Mila’s Story<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“I cannot hear the heartbeat of your baby<\/em>,” said the gynecologist, a family friend, during the second ultrasound examination in the 12th<\/sup> week of my first pregnancy. Those words sounded like a bad dream. I believed that I would soon wake up and that everything would be alright…”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how Mila Todorovi\u0107, president of the Pro Baby Center, begins her confession about her first miscarriage. After an initial period of disbelief, followed by enthusiasm and hope for a positive outcome, she began searching for different medical opinions. However, the initial condition was confirmed, and at the age of 36, she faced the term “Missed” and the traumatic experience of losing a desired baby for the first time. This was followed by a period of sleepless nights, anxiety, and apprehension, searching for someone to blame, first within herself, and then among her closest ones. She was consumed by immense pain, feeling it permeating every fiber of her being. Her solace lay solely in her faith. This gave her the strength to continue fighting for her offspring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts say that if one pregnancy ends in miscarriage, it does not mean that the same will happen with every subsequent one. There are multiple possible causes that increase the risk of a miscarriage: from the mother’s hormonal status, infections, problems with the cervix, diabetes, impaired kidney function, to thyroid disorders, and the like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem with Mila’s thyroid gland was discovered a few months after the loss of the baby. By adhering to the treatment and doctors’ advice, she soon became pregnant again. This pregnancy proceeded without any complications, and the childbirth was “textbook perfect.” A wonderful little girl, who is now 15 years old, came into this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mila had a strong desire to give her daughter a brother or sister. Three years later, she became pregnant again, but this time, too, there was no luck as the so-called ectopic pregnancy ended with surgery and the loss of one fallopian tube. She then realized that it would be very difficult to fulfill the role of becoming a mother a second time. This realization led her through stages of denial, disbelief, anger, apathy, depression, and indifference, until she found solace in God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By studying the verses of the Holy Scriptures, she understood that her children are in heaven, that they have their names and identities. Through prayer, she also got the idea to start a counseling service to help women and couples facing crisis situations during pregnancy, whether they are unsure about keeping the conceived baby or are dealing with the intense pain caused by the sudden termination of a pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have provided comfort to many women who have lost their babies due to miscarriage or succumbed to pressures and decided to terminate their pregnancies. That is why the mission of the Pro Baby Center is to ensure that every baby is welcome and that women going through pregnancy crisis situations receive the support to help share the burden they cannot carry alone,”<\/em> says the president of the Pro Baby Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
